Q&A
Q: What is one thing you really want to work on in 2026?
A: This year, I really want to work on map reading at speed. I find myself slowing down whenever I am trying to read details on the map, largely subconsciously, because my brain thinks reading plus running is a recipe for ending up on the ground. I'd like to take maps on more of my city runs to get used to moving fast while map-reading!
Q: What aspect of orienteering keep you interested and motivated to stay involved, train, and compete?
A: I love that every orienteering race is different from the last, with new challenges and experiences depending on the terrain, course, and even your own mindset. It's always about getting from point A to point B, but that is a completely different puzzle for each leg of each course. Solving that puzzle while also running and also being in the forest is what is so cool about orienteering to me!
