Q&A
Q: How do you normally prepare for an important race?
A: In the morning before an important race, I make sure to drink a bunch of water and eat a good breakfast - even if I get up early and don't really feel like it! When I get to the spot where the race is happening, I always like to make sure I know where the start and finish are before I start so that I'm not rushing right before. After warming up and right before the race I usually end up tying and retying my shoes multiple times to make sure they're just right.
Q: Which event are you most excited for this season and why?
A: I am most excited for the North American Championships and Canadian Championships in Ontario. My first Canadian Championships was last year and it was a great experience, so I'm excited for a repeat this year! I also have never raced in Ontario so I am looking forward to orienteering in new terrain. I am specifically excited for the long events because I missed the long race at the COCs last year and have not done a lot of long races in general.
