Q&A
Q: What would you say is the most overlooked element of orienteering training and why?
A: I think the most overlooked element of orienteering training is relocation. It is hard to practice since getting yourself truly lost on purpose can be difficult. It is also an element that you hope not to have to use. I find that I mostly get to practice it during races which is clearly less than ideal and can be stressful.
Q: Describe your ideal orienteering terrain?
A: My ideal orienteering terrain is white forest with mid sized hills and lots of contour detail. Hills that are too big are a pain to climb but ones that are too small can be difficult to read especially in the forest. It would have some undergrowth but little no no rocky ground. Loose rocks always make me fear for my ankles.
