Q&A
Q: How did you first get involved in orienteering?
A: There was a 125th anniversary at Stanley Park where I first encountered the Maze-O. There was something mesmerizing about a map and trying to complete the course as fast as possible. As I started going to weekly events, I started to appreciate the sport more and more and I really enjoyed the art + thrill of orienteering.
Q: If you had one tip for young orienteers what would it be?
A: Buddy up! Orienteering is much more fun if you can compare your course with friends and learn from other people.
Q: What is your big life orienteering goal?
A: Ultimately, I want to orienteer seamlessly through technical terrain; cut through technical orienteering terrain like soft butter. At the time of writing, the idea of an orienteering triathlon really interests me (Foot-O + Bike-O + Swim-O/Paddle-O).
