Team Canada

Upcoming Silent Auctions

Hello orienteers!

We are having two silent auctions this year to help support Team Canada orienteering. This fundraising success of these auctions rests on the willingness of our Canadian orienteering community to donate to the auctions. Are you able to donate something?

This will be an in person auction during the banquet of the 2024 Canadian Orienteering Festival. It'll be the evening of Sat Aug 11th after the NAOC middle event at Calabogie Peaks Resort. You can drop off your item at the registration desk at any of the COC / NAOC events. This auction is ideally suited for physical items such as crafts, art, food items, orienteering supplies, etc.. Virtual items are also welcome too.

This will be a virtual auction that will be help in late November over about 10 days. This auction is ideally suited to "virtual" items that can be easily emailed or mailed inexpensively to the winning bidders. Physical items are a-ok for this auction - but keep in mind that the donor will need to ship the item and the winning bidder will need to pay for any shipping costs.

The money raised during this auction helps support the development of Team Canada's athletes. Your money helps us to provide more coaching and support to athletes year-round (through year-round coaching and training camp experiences) in Canada and while at international events: World Orienteering Championships, Junior World Orienteering Championships, World Cups and World University Orienteering Championships.

Here are some ideas of possible donations:

  1. Orienteering clubs: can you donate a season's pass, a program registration fee, or an event registration fee...?
  2. Experienced orienteers: can you donate a virtual coaching session, a virtual post-race analysis session, course planning from afar...?
  3. Creative orienteers: please consider donating a piece of art or a hand made item. We have some incredibly creative and talented orienteers in this country!

Donating an item
Please fill out the donation form to give us more info about your donation. Filing out this form is a requirement for the November auction - and optional for the August auction, but it does help us plan.

The fine print
A note that we reserve to ultimately decide which items to include in the auctions. A few times in the past, people have donated very used items of clothing and o-shoes, which are better suited to a garage sale vs a fundraising auction.
