Marion’s contribution to the development and growth of orienteering in Calgary and Western Canada is impressive. She has taken on many different roles at the local, provincial and national levels since the early 90s. Marion has been a prolific official over the years, as a course planner or controller at many championship events (from Provincial championships up to the Asia Pacific Championships), not just in Alberta, but for several championship events around Canada as well.  She has been involved with the Sass Peepre camp, SOGO Adventure Running, Alberta’s junior development program, as well as CIOR reserves (for NATO pentathlon orienteering event). Marion has also contributed as a Board member for the Foothills Orienteering Club and the Alberta Orienteering Association for many years as well as at the Orienteering Canada level as a Board member and on a variety of committees. Also, many officials at all levels have been trained and mentored by Marion.

Marion competes regularly at local, regional and national events and around the world. Marion is often at the top of the results list. She is an inspiration for all club members. Having Marion in the club enables FWOC to host big events with confidence. Her contributions to orienteering at all levels can not be overstated.
