Brian Graham was a top Canadian orienteer throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Brian represented Canada at numerous World Championships and World Cups. His standout performance came at the 1993 World Championships in West Point, USA, where he placed 36th in the Long Distance with one of the best ever Canadian results relative to the leader. Domestically, Brian was a dominant force, consistently reaching the podium at Canadian and North American Championships and often entering the COCs as the man to beat. His success was built on a rare combination of fitness, technical skill, and mental toughness.

Brian also made lasting contributions off the course as a mapper, coach, and mentor with Orienteering Ottawa. He was a role model and true sportsman—respected by elite peers and warmly welcoming to newcomers alike. His dedication to fostering team spirit extended to the national team, where he worked to keep athletes connected and motivated even in the pre-digital era. Brian's legacy lives on through the many orienteers he inspired and the deep respect he earned within the community.
